Captain Todd in IraqFish’n Walleye Guide Service owner/fishing guide Todd Tilkens is a retired United States Army combat veteran.  He retired after over 23 years of service. That is including an 18 month tour over in Iraq.  He earned numerous ribbons, awards and medals through out his long military career.  Serving first in the United States  Army, then in the Unites States Army National Guard.  Two of the most notable are the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Bronze Star Medal, both were earned during his combat tour in Iraq.

The SCORE of Green Bay found it interesting that a veteran was opening a guide fishing business.  They decided it would make a good feature article in the Green Bay Press Gazette in their SCORE column. They asked us about it and we agreed to do an interview with them for the article.  We are proud to share the article with you in a link below;

Todd and Teresa Tilkens of the Green Bay area have a new business and they’re fishing for customers.

Todd, a retired Army veteran with 23 years in the service, has turned his love for fishing into a business, “Fish’n Walleye Guide Service.”

I’ve fished all my life, but in the last 10 years, I’ve really been concentrating on the bay of Green Bay and have been trying to figure it out,” he said. “I took out friends and family and in the last few years, I had people telling me I should do this, and I thought, ‘Why not?’ ”

But, as most entrepreneurs have learned, starting a business is more complicated than you’d think. For Tilkens, it meant a new boat, hours of researching similar businesses and meeting regulations. Continue reading
